While I love warm, tropical destinations, I have a special place in my heart for Germany, and have been fortunate enough to travel throughout Germany a few times, as well as spend a couple of weeks there with a host family during high school. I have not written about my previous adventures to Germany, but I may reference things I experienced on different trips.
This adventure will take us throughout Germany and Austria starting in Hamburg, to Holzminden, Rothenberg, Laberweinting, Passau, Salzburg, Berchtesgarden, Walchsee, and Munich. We are renting a car and driving through the cities, spending anywhere from a day to three days in each location. You could definitely spend longer in each, but with limited vacation time, we will see the highlights, visit family and friends, and enjoy a taste of what each city has to offer.
Germany is Europe’s largest economy. It is a key member of the European Union’s political, economic, and defense organizations. With a 2017 population of approximately 80,594,017, it is actually only slightly smaller than the U.S. state of Montana, or 3 times larger than Pennsylvania (CIA).
